Sethfest is a chance to get together with friends and family, kick off summer in beautiful Skaneateles, and remind ourselves to live well and happily every chance we get. It started for Seth’s 40th birthday, and continues for all.
When Seth was turning 40, we realized that we hadn’t seen so many close family and friends because all the singles had coupled up and it appeared that the age of weddings had ended. Naturally, this meant we should throw some kind of wedding weekend festivity without all the drama and high-strung temperaments.
Expect a weekend of events that will build based on attendance. In Year 2, we are planning a family-friendly, self-funded (you pay for yourself, but we organize the group rate) boat cruise on Saturday at 1pm, and a grown-up, all-inclusive party with food and drinks that night (kicking off around 5pm). Everything is fluid and designed to be easy and come and go. We hope to see you for all of it, but we won’t hold it against you if your plans change. All we ask is you keep us in the loop if you can.
The more, the merrier! If you have a large crew for either the boat or the evening (grown-ups preferred), please make sure to call that out on the RSVP Google sheet so we can plan.
Check out our housekeeping page for lodging suggestions. The plan is to build that out with more suggestions for activities and destinations over time.
We are throwing the party JUly 9th, the weekend after July 4. Although traditionally held the last weekend in June, we decided to push out a bit to give us some breathing room after school ends.
We would love to get together on Friday night, too, for those who are in town and available. We will take a poll of interest, and then make a suggested plan.
Festive casual is all we can ask for! Make sure to layer for the boat, and check the weather for updates.
We love kids! Most of us have them, all of us were them (some of us still are). While the boat tour is family-friendly, we recommend lining up a babysitter for the evening so that you can tap into your own inner child.
